Where Little Adventurers Come Alive
Some of the most important lessons a child will ever learn happen far from a classroom. At Home Grown Junior, we take children aged 7 to 13 out into the wild heart of the Rooisand Nature Reserve for a morning of discovery, wonder, and genuine outdoor adventure.
The Junior Adventurer Experience
Our guided adventure hikes are designed to spark curiosity and build confidence in young people through hands-on encounters with the natural world. This isn’t a nature walk with a pamphlet - it’s an immersive morning where children get to touch, track, listen, and explore in one of the Western Cape’s most beautiful and biodiverse natural landscapes.
On a Junior Adventurer hike, your child will:
🐾 Track & Sign
Learn to identify the footprints, markings, and clues that animals leave behind, and start to read the landscape like a true naturalist.
🐍 Meet Our Snakes
A safe, supervised, and utterly unforgettable introduction to some of southern Africa’s most misunderstood creatures.
🌱 Plants & Birds
From fynbos to feathers, children learn to identify and appreciate the incredible biodiversity right on our doorstep.
🌎 Conservation
Why wild spaces matter, what threatens them, and how even the youngest among us can make a difference.
All of this is wrapped up in an atmosphere of fun, laughter, and the kind of freedom that children thrive in when they’re given space to explore.
